A special invitation to teachers/counselors/parents interested to use Affirmation Dolls with others.
This workshop includes an introduction to art therapy through experiential learning, guided meditation, and the personalized creation of an affirmation doll.
Creating a character helps externalize and process aspects of self and identity, to foster awareness and insight, often giving voice to unexpressed stories.
No art or stitching experience needed, for ages 16+.
Each participant will use a basic doll form stitched by and supporting rural women in India, and will be provided the materials needed to personalize it. You are welcome to bring scraps of fabric, old jewelry, etc. to help customize your creation.
This workshop was initiated through long-term art therapy sessions with village adolescents near Auroville in south India, a bilingual booklet including their hand-stitched characters and stories will also be shared.
